A Welcome Note from Anne Poppen
I believe education is fundamentally about forming the whole person—mind, body, and soul—following the guiding principles of classical wisdom and Christian faith. I am deeply convinced that paideia is the very part of the human soul that defines who we are and that nurturing a profound and comprehensive paideia in children is paramount, as cultural foundations are laid during their formative years. Paideia is the culmination of passing on to the next generation the best ideas, beliefs, affections, and knowledge we have to offer. I consider that to be an excellent education. We can instill in our children a lifelong search for greater meaning and purpose by studying the classics and fostering a Christian worldview.
Garden State Classical Academy aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and virtues to lead fulfilling and purposeful lives. By instilling a love of learning, a commitment to Truth, and a propensity for wonder, we prepare our students to adapt to the complexities of the modern world with confidence and resilience. Education extends beyond the classroom to prepare students for lives of servant leadership. By equipping students with a rigorous academic foundation, strong critical thinking skills, and a compassionate heart for others, we empower them to be agents of positive change in their communities and the world. Our students will be prepared to integrate faith and learning in all aspects of their lives, contributing to the common good and advancing God’s kingdom with humility and conviction.
Through the gifts and talents God has blessed me with, I offer my service to Garden State Classical Academy. Drawing from my teaching background and my lifelong study of the Christian faith, I stand ready to lead this school firmly anchored in the principles of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, emphasizing the integration of moral development within our students and faculty. I am dedicated to shouldering every responsibility to ensure that each child in our community receives an education deeply rooted in the traditions of the liberal arts. From the inception of Garden State Classical Academy years ago, I have been committed to ensuring that this institution will outlast my tenure and grow to serve our area for generations to come.
